In last week’s BLOG I’ve shown you
You can check out last week’s BLOG by clicking on the link here.
In this week’s BLOG I want to share with you
HOW TO GET RESULTS WHEN YOUR LOVED ONE IS CRITICALLY ILL IN INTENSIVE CARE!
To start off with I want to share a quote that I wrote on this topic and the quote says:
“When life throws you a curveball and you are dealing with unexpected adversity and challenges, it’s easy to blame others and it’s easy to become negative and cynical. Often things in life happen for a reason and it’s up to you to change the negative events that have come your way and get the results that you want! By doing that you become stronger and you can learn and overcome other challenges in your life as well!”
If your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care, you feel like your world has tumbled down on you and you feel like you are way outside of your comfort zone.
You and your family tend to be in a fearful state and you and your family generally speaking don’t know what to do.
Getting results while your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care is not at the forefront of your mind, because you generally speaking don’t know how to go about it.
Getting results is nothing you perceive as being an option, because after all you and your family are dealing with an Intensive Care team that has “perceived authority” and “perceived power”!
And I am not talking about getting results when your loved one is in Intensive Care for an overnight stay for some blood pressure issues or some breathing issues that require some oxygen therapy and monitoring!
Getting results is only really important when your loved one is in a situation where they are
- very unstable and in a very critical condition
- in a life threatening situation
Those are the situations where you have no PEACE OF MIND, no control, no power and no influence if you act like 99% of the families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care!
Those are the situations where you and your family think that you can get no results, because the Intensive Care team has probably already negatively framed and positioned your critically ill loved one’s diagnosis, prognosis and their treatment!
The Intensive Care team has probably already given you the “doom and gloom” speech in a formal family meeting and they have probably already hinted towards your critically ill loved one either dying or “not having any future quality of life” if they do survive their ordeal at all!

But getting results in difficult and challenging situations when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care is not all that difficult once you’ve learned the fundamentals!
Getting results and getting what you want when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care is not all that difficult if you know what questions you need to ask and if you know how you need to position yourself, your family and your critically ill loved one!
Getting results when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care is not all that difficult once you know and understand that the Intensive Care team’s “perceived power” and “perceived authority” is only perceived and not even real!
Getting results when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care is not all that difficult if you know and understand that the many things happening “BEHIND THE SCENES” in Intensive Care are the very things you need to discover quickly and then use to your advantage in order to get the desired results!
Getting results when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care doesn’t necessarily mean that you get all that you wanted from the get go.
And getting results when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care sometimes might mean that if your loved one is inevitably dying that you get a death on your and your family’s terms and not on the Intensive Care team’s terms!
And getting results when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care always, always (and did I say always?) means to swim against the current and it always means that you have to look at what the 99% of families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care do and do the complete opposite!
The 99% of families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care who have no PEACE OF MIND, no power, no control and no influence and in essence get no results don’t question, they don’t do their own research, they “suck up” to the Intensive Care team, they don’t look at what’s happening “BEHIND THE SCENES” in Intensive Care and that’s why they get no results!
Recommended resources:
Don’t let the Intensive Care team keep you at “arm’s length”!
That’s why the Intensive Care team can keep those 99% of families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care at “arms length”.
For you and your family it simply means that you have to take responsibility for your own results and it simply means that you have to take responsibility for having PEACE OF MIND, control, power and influence no matter the challenge you and your family are facing!
For you and your family it simply means that you have to change from a family who just ‘nods off’ everything the Intensive Care team is telling you, to questioning everything the Intensive Care team is telling you and make your own conclusions!
For you and your family getting results simply means that you have to get stronger and it simply means that you have to change the perception the Intensive Care team has about you from a “not so powerful family” to a family who has PEACE OF MIND, control, power and influence!
The Intensive Care team is managing families of critically ill Patients 7 days a week, 365 days a year!
They know what to say, how to say it and when to say it! They’ve been doing it for a long time and there tends to be too much at stake for the Intensive Care team to mess things up!
But for you there is even more at stake when your loved one’s critically ill in Intensive Care!
