In this week’s blog I want to talk about the second part of
The 6 deadly excuses that hold you back from making informed decisions, get peace of mind, control, power and influence, when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care! (PART 2)
Before I get into today’s topic I want to share a quote with you that I wrote on today’s topic and the quote says
Most families who have a loved one critically ill in Intensive Care highly underestimate this “once in a lifetime” situation that they can’t afford to get wrong!
Most families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care when first confronted with this “once in a lifetime” situation are frustrated, anxious, stressed, worried, overwhelmed, vulnerable, have sleepless nights and are confused by the often tragic events that unfold before their very eyes!
Most families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care can’t see the wood for the trees and don’t have perspective when their loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care!
And how could they? It takes many years of experience and insider knowledge to understand what’s really at stake when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care!
The consequences of having a loved one critically ill in Intensive Care can be dramatic and the consequences can be deadly quite literally.
Therefore, any family who has a loved one critically ill in Intensive Care and wants to make informed decisions, have peace of mind, control, power and influence needs to advance very quickly, needs to start doing their own research, quickly learn what questions they need to ask!
They also need to very quickly learn and understand that “what you see is not always what you get” in Intensive Care, because there are so many dynamics and variables at play that families at first have no knowledge about.
Intensive Care is an extremely volatile as well as highly political environment and therefore you and your family need to be prepared as much as you can, because if you are not, the consequences can be deadly quite literally!
Let’s get into today’s topic!
I want to continue from last week’s blog and I want to share with you the remaining four deadly excuses that hold you back from making informed decisions, get peace of mind, control, power and influence, when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care!
If you have read last week’s blog, you know that I have specifically chosen to use the phrase “deadly excuses” because I have so many people seek out my services that come to me when it’s too late!
What do I mean by that?
Many Clients come to me when they have already lost their loved one from a critical illness in Intensive Care and didn’t survive.
Now, whilst I can fully understand that you want to do your own research about what may or may not have happened whilst your loved one was critically ill in Intensive Care and passed away, wouldn’t it be smart to do your own research whilst your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care and take charge and control of the situation?
My prime example here is that a few weeks back I had a lady call me and she said that her 6 year old son had died a couple of weeks ago in Intensive Care whilst being on ECMO for a heart condition.
The lady was absolutely baffled when she found my website and obviously felt compelled to make a phone call.
After I answered her most burning questions, she said to me “if I had known that information like this existed and if I had known about your website…” she didn’t finish the sentence and I could sense that she was close to tears!
I have written a blog about this
“Having a loved one critically ill in Intensive Care, don’t be a victim!”
The fact of the matter is that whenever you have a loved one critically ill in Intensive Care you can’t afford not to do your own research, you can’t afford not knowing what questions to ask, because you and your family are in a “once in a lifetime” situation that you know you can’t afford to get wrong!
Therefore staying put at the sidelines and watching this event passively from the sidelines might well proof deadly in a rather literal sense!

I can and I want to help you with this situation but not when it’s too late, I’d much rather help you when we can work together to find solutions to your problems whilst your critically ill loved one is still alive!
So without further ado, let’s get into the remaining 4 deadly excuses that hold you back from making informed decisions, get peace of mind, control, power and influence, when your loved one is critically ill in Intensive Care!
Deadly excuse number 3: Families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care think that doing your own research is too complicated!
Now, I can tell you that you don’t need to become a doctor or a nurse whilst you are doing this research, however you need a quick crash course about some basic things in Intensive Care!
After all you want to be in a position to make informed decisions, get peace of mind, control, power and influence!
And whilst the clinical stuff is important, it’s not nearly as important as your ability, your skills and also your guts to manage the Intensive Care team so that they don’t manage you!
And that’s exactly what I help you to do here at INTENSIVECAREHOTLINE.COM, I help you to manage the Intensive Care team, by showing you exactly what’s really happening in Intensive Care that you didn’t expect and that you didn’t see at the start.
I help you to read between the lines and I help you to decode the Intensive Care team’s talk!
I show you and help you interpret everything the Intensive Care team is telling you or not telling you! I help you interpret the data so to speak!
I also show you what questions you need to ask so that you can make informed decisions, get peace of mind, control, power and influence!

It doesn’t have to be that hard and your ability to get the information you need and then implementing it is the key to your success!
Even if you think that the doctors and the nurses must be “smart”, forget about it, because you are at least as smart as they are!
Never be intimidated by the Intensive Care team’s “perceived power” and their “perceived authority”!
Once you implement what you are learning here you are the authority!
Deadly excuse number 4: Families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care think they are not smart enough and not powerful enough!
This is another deadly excuse and one that makes me furious as well!
Just because you are not a doctor or a nurse in Intensive Care doesn’t mean that you can’t manage this situation with success!
Just like the doctors and the nurses have skills in the area of Intensive Care, you have skills in other areas of life that they don’t have!
Never think that you can’t do something! You’re here to get a “can-do” attitude!
And that’s what I’m showing and teaching you here! A “can-do” attitude!
With all the information here at INTENSIVECAREHOTLINE.COM you can make informed decisions, get peace of mind, control, power and influence, period!
I can guide you and show you step by step by what you need to do in order to manage this situation so that the situation or the Intensive Care team don’t manage you.
I can literally hold your hand and walk you through this “once in a lifetime” situation that you know you can’t afford to be getting wrong!
But never ever think that you’re not smart enough to get through this situation and get what you want!
If you do this, you’ll fit right in with the 99% of the families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care who don’t make informed decisions, don’t get peace of mind, control, power or influence!
Instead see yourself as powerful, walk powerful, change your body language, your tone of voice and see yourself at least as powerful than the Intensive Care team, it’ll make all the difference and the Intensive Care team will notice!
Deadly excuse number 5: Families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care trust the Intensive Care team blindly!
I think that trust is a wonderful thing! You should trust people you know and like!
Intensive Care and critical illness is a different ball game altogether and if I have learned a thing or two in more than 15 years Intensive Care nursing experience in three different countries where I have literally worked with thousands of critically ill Patients and their families, it’s that in this day and age with information readily available, you need to start asking the right questions and you need to do your own research!
I have also worked as a Nurse Unit Manager in Intensive Care for more than five years and I know way too much about the works of an Intensive Care Unit, the politics, the dynamics, the power play, the hierarchy, the psychology and the fight and battling for limited resources!
Therefore you and your family can’t really afford to trust blindly, especially if your critically ill loved one is in one of the following difficult, heartbreaking and challenging situations and is either
Trusting blindly in those aforementioned situations would be the wrong approach.
You definitely do want to know what’s going on those situations that I mentioned just before and you and your family can’t really afford to trust blindly.
Keep in mind the Intensive Care team is “managing” families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care 24 hours a day, 365 days per year! Therefore they know what to say, they know how to say it and they know what not to say…
There is just too much happening in Intensive Care, especially “behind the scenes” that almost always impacts on how the Intensive Care team positions and frames your critically ill loved one’s diagnosis, their prognosis, as well as their care and treatment or the lack of such.
You really can’t afford to be sitting on the sidelines and do what 99% of the families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care do who trust blindly and therefore make no informed decisions, have no peace of mind, no control, no power and no influence!
Trusting blindly or even worse, being intimidated by the Intensive Care team when it comes to life or death decisions or the decisions around long-term health outcomes will get you in trouble big time and therefore it’s great that you are here so that I can show you what you need to do in order to get what you and your family want and deserve!
Deadly excuse number 6: Families of critically ill Patients in Intensive Care think that they have no money to do their own research and pay a professional to help them getting what they want!
You really need to get into the mindset of being one step ahead of the Intensive Care team and therefore you and your family must be getting all of your ducks in a row so to speak!
And you can do so by either researching the INTENSIVECAREHOTLINE.COM website for free or you can do so by getting 1:1 phone or email counselling and consulting with me!
